2 MINUTE READ
  • Carbon Clean selected as one of eight companies from more than 45 applicants across 19 countries for the Net Zero Start-Up Hub’s 2027 incubation programme

  • Six-month programme will bring Carbon Clean together with data centre operators, technology leaders, investors and industry experts to help accelerate routes to commercial deployment
  • Carbon Clean will explore how its compact, modular CycloneCC technology can support clean, reliable power for growing data centre demand

Carbon Clean has been selected for the Net Zero Start-Up Hub's 2027 incubation programme, following the Hub's Start-Up Hub Pitch Day in Fredericia, Denmark. The selection was announced by the Net Zero Innovation Hub for Data Centers as part of its 2026–2027 cohort.

The programme brings clean technology companies together with data centre operators, technology leaders, investors and industry experts to validate solutions and accelerate routes to commercial deployment.

As data centre power demand grows, the industry needs more clean, reliable, 24/7 power. Carbon capture can play an important role in enabling lower-carbon, dispatchable power – but solutions need to be compact, scalable and fast to deploy. Space is also at a premium on data centre sites, creating a need for carbon capture solutions that can be integrated with minimal impact on surrounding infrastructure and operations.

Carbon Clean's CycloneCC is a modular, prefabricated carbon capture technology designed for sites where space is constrained. CycloneCC combines Carbon Clean's advanced APBS-CDRMax® solvent with Rotating Packed Bed technology, reducing the size of the equipment by up to 10x and the overall footprint by up to 50% compared with conventional carbon capture solutions.

This compact design has the potential to make carbon capture particularly well suited to data centre environments, where space, speed of deployment and integration with power infrastructure are critical considerations.

The six-month incubation programme runs from January to June 2027 and is designed to help bridge the gap between promising technologies and commercial deployment. Through the programme, Carbon Clean will work with the Hub's network of data centre operators, technology leaders, investors and industry experts to explore how CycloneCC can be deployed in data centre environments and help accelerate the sector's path to net zero.

The Net Zero Innovation Hub for Data Centers is backed by APL, Danfoss, Data4, Google, Microsoft, Schneider Electric and Vertiv.

About Carbon Clean

Carbon Clean is a UK-based carbon capture company developing point-source, post-combustion technologies for industrial emitters. With more than 16 years of experience, the company has designed, delivered and operated carbon capture systems across hard-to-abate sectors including cement, steel, chemicals, and power generation.

Carbon Clean’s technology portfolio includes more than 50 project references worldwide and is supported by an intellectual property base of 126 active patent assets across 30 countries. The company has also developed CycloneCC, a modular carbon capture technology designed to simplify and accelerate industrial deployment. Its technologies have been deployed across a wide range of flue gas compositions and operating conditions, generating operational data that supports ongoing optimisation and scale-up.

To date, Carbon Clean’s technologies have captured more than 3 million tonnes of CO₂ globally. The company has worked with organisations including ADNOC, Aramco, NTPC Limited, Taiheiyo Cement, and Tata Steel, supporting deployment across diverse industrial applications.

Carbon Clean is focused on making carbon capture scalable, cost-effective, and accessible, supporting the transition to lower-carbon industry.

About the Net Zero Innovation Hub for Data Centers

The Net Zero Innovation Hub for Data Centers unites leaders across the data center industry to accelerate the deployment of advanced net zero solutions. Backed by APL, Danfoss, Data4, Google, Microsoft, Schneider Electric, and Vertiv, the Hub works to identify, test, and de-risk new technologies for the industry, removing the technical, commercial, regulatory, and financial barriers that slow their path to deployment.

The Net Zero Start-Up Hub is one track within this broader effort: a structured six-month program for a select group of innovative companies invited to join through an annual pitch event. It sits alongside the Hub’s other ways of working with industry and technology partners, including direct member collaboration and pilot and testing initiatives, which remain open to organizations outside the Start-Up Hub process.
