Refinery industry challenges
The refining sector faces increasing pressure to lower carbon emissions as net zero initiatives become more widely adopted. This will only increase over the coming decades. Carbon capture and storage technology provides one of the best ways refineries can decarbonise, and can be paired with hydrogen production to provide new opportunities and diversify value chains.
Unique site
considerations
Traditional carbon capture for refineries is difficult due to multiple CO2 point sources, limited space, and remote locations. Carbon Clean’s modular carbon capture system can be deployed to capture carbon dioxide in refineries at multiple point sources with a smaller footprint, all while lowering the required capital investment.
Feed gas
quality issues
Refinery point sources emit a variety of CO2 containing gas streams. Gas quality can be a concern, with high concentrations of potentially corrosive, toxic and flammable components. Carbon Clean’s process design, solvent stability, and operating experience with these feedstocks serve to optimise carbon capture for refineries and successfully remove CO2 from these sources.
A roadmap to achieve
net zero
Refineries need the technology, expertise, and guidance to implement affordable and scalable solutions that help them achieve their net zero carbon emission goals. This can be paired with blue H2 production to provide new opportunities and diversify value chains. We're on the path to net zero by innovating carbon capture for refineries together.
